privacy
Gummy is built so your ideas stay yours. This policy explains, in plain words, what happens to your information.
last updated 17 October 2026The short version
Your recordings, the words written from them, your titles and your places are kept on your iPhone. We don't have a server that stores them, and we can't see them.
There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. We only receive something when you choose to send it to us, like feedback or a question.
Who we are
Gummy is made by Nicoletells AB (org. nr 559174-7935), Skönstaholmsvägen 84, 123 60 Farsta, Sweden. Nicoletells AB is the data controller for the little information we do receive. Contact: hello@saygummy.com.
What stays on your phone
Recordings, transcripts, good bits, titles, shelves, comeback dates, words you have fixed and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone. They are included in your iPhone's own backups if you use them, under Apple's terms.
Deleting an idea moves it to "recently let go" for 30 days, then removes it for good. Deleting the app removes everything.
Turning speech into words
Gummy uses Apple's speech recognition on your iPhone. On iPhones and languages that support it, this happens entirely on the device. Where on-device recognition isn't available, Apple may process the audio on its servers to write it down, under Apple's privacy policy, and we never receive it.
If you turn on whisper in settings, gummy downloads a speech model once (about 630 MB) from Hugging Face. After that, transcription happens on your phone. The download shares your IP address with the host, like any download, and nothing about your ideas.
Idea names and short summaries are made with Apple's on-device model on iPhones with Apple Intelligence, and with on-device language tools on others.
Places (optional)
If you switch places on, gummy saves an approximate location with each new idea, at neighbourhood level, so it can show ideas on a map and bring them back nearby. This uses your iPhone's location services while you use the app. It is stored only on your phone, and left out when you share unless you include it. You can turn places off and forget all saved places in settings.
Microphone and notifications
Gummy uses the microphone only while you are recording, which you can always see on screen and in the iPhone status bar. Comeback reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone.
When you share
Sharing an idea, its words or a story video uses the iPhone share sheet, and goes wherever you send it. If you choose "think it through with Claude", gummy opens Claude with the words of that idea. Audio is never sent. What happens next is covered by Anthropic's privacy policy.
Feedback
When you send feedback from the app (by shaking your phone or from settings), we receive your message, the kind of feedback, an optional name, which screen you were on, the app and iOS version, your iPhone model and, if you leave it switched on, a screenshot of that screen. Recordings and words are never included.
Feedback is stored in a Google Sheet that only we can access, using Google as our processor. We use it to fix and improve gummy, keep it for up to 12 months, and delete it on request. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the app, and your choice to send it.
If gummy crashed or froze, your iPhone keeps a technical report of where the app got stuck. Gummy can attach it to feedback you send, if you leave that switch on. It contains no recordings, words or names.
Beta builds are distributed through Apple TestFlight, which may share crash reports and basic device information with us under Apple's TestFlight terms.
Asking for help
If you ask for help in the app, we receive your question, the email address you give for the reply, and the app version, iOS version and iPhone model. It reaches us by email through Google, as our processor. We use it only to answer you, and delete it when you ask or once it is no longer needed.
This website
This website doesn't ask for your email or any other personal information, and uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. Its fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.
The site is hosted by Netlify, which processes standard technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and keep them secure. Links to the App Store take you to Apple, where Apple's privacy policy applies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, object to its use, or ask for a copy. Write to us at the address above. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).

Changes
If we change how gummy handles information, we will update this page and the date above, and tell you in the app when it matters.
